UK slaps new sanctions on Russian businessmen, companies
MOSCOW, Jun 29 (PRIME) -- The U.K. has introduced sanctions on Russian businessman Vladimir Potanin and other individuals, banks and companies, the British government said in statement on Wednesday.
“The UK government has today announced new sanctions, hitting (President Vladimir) Putin’s inner circle. Amongst those sanctioned is Vladimir Potanin – Russia’s second richest man and owner of major conglomerate Interros. Potanin continues to amass wealth as he supports Putin’s regime, acquiring Rosbank, and shares in Tinkoff Bank,” the statement read.
“The UK government is also sanctioning a group of Russian individuals and companies for their involvement in repressing civilians and supporting the Assad regime in Syria.”
The list includes Moscow Industrial Bank, Governor of the Kemerovo Region Sergei Tsivilyov, Chairwoman of the Board of Director of coal producer Kolmar Anna Tsivilyova, Said Gutseriyev, son of founder and co-owner of Safmar Group companies Mikhail Gutseriyev, businessman Sait-Salam Gutseriyev, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of engineering company BTS-Most Ruslan Baisarov.
